Jeffery began life’s journey on July 18, 1947 to the union of Jeff and Bertha Jones in Scott, Mississippi. Jeffery was an only child but he acquired many brothers and sisters along life’s journey. Jeffery confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized. As a child he attended church with his mother where he learned his Christian values. (Proverbs 22:6) Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Jeffery was currently a member of Trinity Community Baptist Church.

Jeffery was educated in the Chicago Public School System graduating from Farragut High School in 1966. He played on the Farragut football team for four years as well as some semi-pro football. He attended and worked at the University of Illinois. Throughout the years, Jeffery had many professions, which includes the proprietor of Austin Bowl

. Jeffery was joined in matrimony on December 26, 1992 to Janice Marie King and you never saw one without the other.

Jeffery had a passion for bowling. He was a bowler for over 50 years. He developed a youth league where he taught bowling, the values of team work and respect. He became known as “pops”. Jeffery loved watching sports and became the family’s “grill master”(Oh those ribs).

On Tuesday September 12, 2017 God whispered “well done”. Jeffery reunited with his parents Jeff and Bertha. Though absent from the body, he will remain in the heart of his wife Janice; Three children; Brian, Dionne, and Aaron and one stepson Lamorris Scott. Four grandchildren; Eric Jones, Anayah Jones, Norae Jones, and Bri’elle Jones; Two uncles, Robert Jones(Shirley) of Scott, Mississippi and Harry Jones of Bellwood, Illinois; Four sister-in-laws; Joyce(Aroy), Armega, Betty and Barbara(Charles); Three brother-in-laws; Joseph(Claudette), John(Mamie), Felix(Shirley) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
