Rosolyn M. Spey-Weddington

In the vibrant narrative of Rosolyn Marie Spey-Weddington's life, every chapter resonates with a melody of love and joy. Born on January 29, 1968, in the heart of Chicago, she was the perfect blend of both Roy Mack and Pamela Spey, her parents.

From the spirited days at Mulligan Elementary School with her cousins, to the proud moments at St. Basil Elementary and St. Joseph High School, Roz's journey was a symphony of learning and growth through the corridors of education. South Suburban College became another chapter, adding depth to her quest for knowledge. Roz was not just a person; she was a master of many talents – singing, dancing, fashion, and humor seamlessly intertwined in the fabric of her being.

She was also one of the best card players and you did not want to be on the opposing team. Her professional saga transformed from an entry-level role into an indispensable force, becoming the heartbeat of an entire company. Love entered Roz's life in her teenage years, with Wayne becoming her lifelong dance partner. Their union gifted them two extraordinary accomplishments – Dominique Noelle and Donavon Anthony Royal. As a wife and mother, she poured her soul into the art of cooking, turning her home into a haven for gatherings and events.

Her commitment to family was boundless, extending beyond blood ties to embrace nieces, nephews, and her daughter's friends. Roz was not just a mother but a surrogate mom, a pillar of strength and love. The pages of her life turned to reveal a new role – a proud and loving grandmother to Dyani Jael Marie, a cherished chapter that added warmth to her legacy.

In 1998, the Weddington’s found their spiritual home at Greater Canaan MB Church, but Roz's connection with Christ was a lifelong journey. Choir melodies echoed her devotion, and a divine call led her to embrace a role in ministry to preach, leaving an enduring legacy of faith and love for those who shared in her spiritual journey.

On December 25, 2023, Roz went home to glory. Safe in His arms. She was proceeded in death by her dad, Roy Mack Spey, her grandmothers, Juanita Chalmers, and Bessie Mae Henderson and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving mother Pamela, a caring husband Wayne, two beautiful children Dominique and Donavon, her one and only granddaughter Dyani, a brother Kenneth, a sister Aiesha, her nieces and nephews, Brianna, Darius, Brandi, Torrey, Kenneth Jr, Lauren, Kalieb, Jayla, Jordan, Orniyah, Sienna, Kennedy, Kendyl, Dwanae, Dwanique, and Erykah. An incredibly special cousin/sister Rocio. Two god sons Demeko and Denorsic. A god mother Bonnie Young, and a host of aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews, family, and friends. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of everyone she met.

The legacy she leaves behind will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who know her. As we say goodbye to Roz, let us remember the joy and laughter she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever live on in our hearts. Roz had a way of making everyone feel special and loved. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she always put others before herself. Her selflessness was truly inspiring. Even in the face of adversity, Roz remained strong and resilient. She taught us the importance of never giving up and always finding the silver lining. We are grateful for the time we had with her and the lessons she taught us. Though she may no longer be with us physically, her presence will always be felt. We will carry her memory in our hearts and strive to live our lives with the same grace, love, and loyalty that she exemplified.
