Armenia was the 14th child born to Tobie Falkner, Jr. and Laura Scruggs in Holly Springs, Mississippi on August 14 or August 24, 1938. She has always celebrated both days for her birthday. She attended Jones School in Holly Springs. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age while attending Smith Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir along with her sisters and cousins.
In the early 1960's she relocated from Holly Springs to East St. Louis, IL, where she met and married Willie A. Alexander on August 29, 1967. Ready for new beginnings they relocated to Chicago with their family in the 1970’s.
Armenia resided in the Chicago land area until God called her home. During her residency in Chicago, she worked as a housekeeper for Catholic Charities. She began working in child care at the St Joseph Carondelet Child Center from where she retired. Armenia enjoyed cooking, baking everyone’s favorite Caramel and German chocolate cakes, sewing, going to bingo games, going to casinos, shopping, watching her favorite TV shows, listening to gospel music, singing, planting flowers, arts and crafts and spending time with family and friends. She had a strong love for all of her family and an unbreakable bond with her brothers and sisters. As sweet and kind as Armenia was, if you wanted to see another side of her, just touch her most valuable possession which was her purse. You couldn’t look at her purse, you couldn’t touch her purse, and you would need the help of the Lord if you sat her purse on the floor.
Armenia departed this life on June 1, 2026 at the home of her daughter, Anniece, while holding the hand of her son, Willie. She will be lovingly remembered by her six children; Marilyn Faulkner-Fisher (Ellis “Glenn” deceased), Denver Faulkner (Denise), Anniece Browder (Vincent), Sharon Profit (Gene), Willie Alexander, Tavares Alexander; 11 grandchildren: Deshia (Lornell), Javonius, Chezney, Taccara, Chera, Nakia, Aaron, Genean, Gerron, Darryl and Craig; 20 great-grand children:Chance, Sunny’jai, Torrence, Chase, Shamar, Shaniya, Curlie, Mya, A’Niyah, Mariyah, Carter, Autumn, Aaron Jr., Scarlett, DaMya, Dabari, Zyla, Eurie, Da'ryah, Daajiyah; and two great great- grandchildren:Curlie Jr.,E'lani; sister Doris Reynolds (of East St. Louis, IL); special friend/sisters Annie Seal Milon and Nora Holmes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Armenia was predeceased by her husband Willie Alexander, and her siblings: Ora Mae, Laura Mae, Lula Mae, Mary Ellen, Odell, L.C., Harmon, Percy, Felix, Lee, Frank and her brother Fred, who just passed on May 7th.
Although we will miss her deeply, we celebrate a life well lived, a faith well kept, and a love that will continue to guide and inspire generations to come.
