Briyonna L Pickett

December 16, 2001 — November 2, 2021

Briyonna LeeShawn Pickett was born on December 16, 2001 in Chicago, IL to Jym Pickett and LaShawna Shenevia Johnson.

Briyonna was preceded in death by her mother; LaShawna, grandmother; Bertha Johnson-Conner, and uncle; Jay Pickett.

Briyonna was baptized as a young child. Briyonna attended Frazier Grade School and graduated from Progressive Leadership Academy in 2020.

Briyonna was a happy and loving child growing up. She had a strong sense of love for her family and, she was a very talkative little girl who didn’t mind letting you know how she felt, what she liked, or what she wanted. Bri was also a very polite child and would ask how your day was or what your plans were for that day. If Bri thought you were sad, she would ask you “why are you sad”, and then she would say with a smile, “don’t be sad”. She was a very inquisitive child with a big heart and an infectious smile that was contagious and would light up any room!

Briyonna loved going on family vacations, especially family reunions. She loved everything there was to do from the pool, to eating and everything else in between. She loved the pool so much, she would cry when it was time to get out of the pool.

Briyonna’s personality carried over into her young life. When she became a big sister, she fell in love and she was an awesome big sister to Jymia. She “Loved” her little sister and loved spending time with her. Some years later, Briyonna fell in love all over again when her daughter Jaliyah was born. She didn’t know a lot about being a mother but she knew a lot about “Love” and that’s when she experienced a new and different kind of love that she hadn’t felt before but it was a special kind of love. Bri “Loved” her little bundle of joy more than she thought was possible.

Briyonna’s life was short, but it was filled with lots of love. On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, God called Briyonna’s name and said, job well done. I have always promised, that you will never be alone so I’m sending your angels to greet you and guide you safely home.” She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her daughter, Jaliyah Pickett; parents, Jym and Kenisha Pickett; sister, Jymia Pickettt; two grandmothers, Valarie Pickett and Alice Tanksley; two grandfathers, Jim Pickett Jr., and Pastor Leroy Johnson (Gloria) and; three uncles Jance Pickett, William Tanksley (Lawanda) and Terrance Tanksley; two aunts; Jymesia Pickett and Lakita Reed, and a host of great uncles, aunts, cousin and friends, and her best friend Danny Triplett. Also, the family would like to acknowledge Taisha Bailey for your time spent in Briyonna’s life,
