Bruce Terence Meredith

Tuesday, September 21, 1965, in Meridian, Mississippi Alyce and Jessie were blessed with the birth of their sixth child, Bruce Terence.

The Meredith Family moved to Maywood, Illinois in 1966. Bruce attended Irving Elementary and Proviso East High Schools. Bruce was a Proviso East lettered football player. He was also the basketball team manager where he encouraged the same level of commitment and ethics. Bruce acquired his postsecondary education from Triton Community College and Devry Institute.

Before he was formed in his mother’s womb, God set Bruce apart for His divine purpose. In faithful obedience to that calling, he dedicated his life to the Lord, serving Him through the preaching of the gospel and ministry of music. He was a member of the Sunday School Department and the African Methodist Episcopal Church’s Young People’s Division. He served as director of the Chicago Conference Youth and Young Adult Choirs. He also served in several community choirs, including Ambassadors for Christ and God’s Paradise Production.

Canaan A.M.E. Church was his church home from preschool until mid-1990s. He served faithfully as the Inspirational and Mass Choirs Director, inspiring excellence and unwavering commitment. He encouraged every choir member to strive for their best, until every note reflected the spirit of worship. Bruce was later ordained as an Associate Minister at Canaan under Pastor Isaac Kindred Sr. In 1993 God enlarged his ministry, appointing him to pastor St. Phillips A.M.E. Church, Chicago. From 1998 - 2004 he served as Associate Minister with Rev. Dr. James and Mrs. Julia Wade at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, Evanston, IL. In 2005 he officially joined DuPage A.M.E Church, Lisle, IL, under Rev. James Miller. Throughout each assignment he led with humility, integrity, and a steadfast devotion to God’s people.

September 5, 1992, he was united in holy matrimony with, who he described as, the woman of his dreams, Vicki Kindred. Their marriage was a testament to love, faith and partnership, until May 17, 2011. Their union was blessed with three amazing children: Brooklyn Tiara, Blaise Terence, and Bryce Trinity. His children remain his most treasured legacy and greatest gifts to the world.

Bruce began his career at Universal Coach Parts with his brother Jessie LaValle before working with Continental Distribution. He then worked with Chicago Transit Authority as a conductor completing his career as a Security Controller. He retired in April 2022. Throughout his career, Bruce was recognized and honored for his strong work ethic and charisma.

Monday, August 3rd at 3:00pm Bruce, surrounded by his loved ones, departed this life and entered the presence of the Most High. We are certain he was welcomed by his grandparents, parents, sister, and brother. Hours later he and all the family welcomed Big Brother Jessie LaValle.

Those who cherish fond memories of Bruce include: his children Brooklyn Tiara, Blaise Terence, and Bryce Trinity. His grandchildren Victoria Brielle and Josiah Braylyn. His ex-wife Vicki Kindred Meredith. His brothers: Ernest Theoria (Ann), Lonnie Wayne (Bridgette), and Cedric Charles; two sisters-in-love, Joyce Meredith and Tonjua Jackson; one brother in-love Alvin Hodge; Three nephews and one niece: Cameron, Anastasia Berry (Dominique), Jared, and Jalen. Great nephews and niece: Xayne, Kamiyah, and Dominique Jr.; beloved Aunt Annie Pearl and Uncle Jerome (Joyce) and a host of cousins and friends.
