Carolyn Ann Evans

September 21, 1948 — April 25, 2024

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Carolyn Ann Evans was born on September 21, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois to her loving and hardworking parents Murphy and Sarah Buckley. Because of Daddy Murphy’s (her father) military background and his dream of starting his own business, Buckley’s Construction, they settled in Marysville, California where she attended and graduated from Marysville High School.

Carolyn moved back to Chicago in 1967 and in May 1973 began her career at Cook County Hospital where she eventually retired in February 1992. After retiring from Cook County Hospital, because she could not sit still, she took a part-time job as a Home Health Care worker with Addus Health Care and took care of families up until her transition.

On March 5, 1983, she married the love of her life Earnest Evans who preceded her in death on January 15, 2007. Mama and Big Earnest enjoyed a full life together, they often took long drives, frequented garage sales, and tried new restaurants. She was a devoted wife, no nonsense mother and tell it like it is Nana.

Carolyn accepted Christ at an early age and later joined Lighthouse Church of All Nations where she was active in the Keenager Ministry and the Food Pantry. She had an amazing social life. She was a member of the Red Hats, the Sociable Seniors, she was a traveler, and she got her love of shopping from Mama Sarah (her mother). You could always catch her at her favorite store Savers, picking up little knickknacks.

On April 25, 2024, Carolyn made her transition to be with Big Earnest (her husband), mother, father, and brother. She leaves to mourn her three children: Deirdre, Tanya, and Tracy (Robert), four grandchildren, Cedric, Tyreik, Sarah and Jaylen (NuNu) and five great-grandchildren, Takyaiah, Caserious, Takyraiah, Sariyah (Suga), Drayden (who proceeding her in death), Armani & KoKo Ann (her fur grandbaby) and a host of relatives and friends who will miss her tremendously.
