Casey Lamar Richmond, born to Kenneth and Carolyn on January 23, 1973, in Chicago, IL. A member of the church from a very young age, Casey song in the choir at Outreach Church of God in Christ alongside his family members. Casey graduated from Bloom Township High School in 1991 and North Park University in 2014. He pursued and was awarded a degree in Nonprofit Management.
As a young boy, Casey was affectionately nicknamed ‘K.K.’ by his godparents Tommie and Lillie Lymon, a nickname that followed him well into adulthood. As a young boy, Casey enjoying fixing things around the house and playing video games. While Casey never married, he lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count. His nieces, nephews, as well as his sisters and brothers meant more to him than words can describe.
Casey Richmond was the director of Harvey House. However, he began his journey as a client. Before coming to Restoration Ministries, he was in prison and struggled with addiction for years. Casey entered Harvey House in 2010 and graduated in 2012, and he credits Restoration Ministries with radically changing his life. Casey had the honor of being mentored and discipled by both the founder Dr. Sullivan (affectionately known as “Doc”) and Ray Banks, learning firsthand what it meant to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Doc saw potential in Casey and encouraged him to go back to school. In 2012 he earned a certificate in Reentry Leadership from the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College, in 2014 he graduated from North Park University with a B.A. in Nonprofit Management, and he recently became a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist with the state of Illinois. His favorite saying by Doc is “I don’t care about what you did yesterday, I’m excited about your future!” As the director of Harvey House, he tries to live up to that legacy, doing the same thing for others that was done for him.
He was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others and was an integral part of Spirit of God Fellowship family. A loyal servant to God, Casey spent many hours dedicating his life to Restoration Ministries Harvey House. Now that Casey has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of his physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him.
