Dennis Scott was born in Chicago, IL on November 24, 1942 to proud parents Addie and Elijah Scott, who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death is wife Priscilla Davis Scott, brother, Michael Scott, and sisters Patricia Brisker and Barbara Scott.

Dennis was raised in Chicago, IL in the Robert Brooks housing development, aka "The Village". He attended Riis Elementary School and Crane High School. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the US Army and fought for this country in the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Sergeant. He often spoke about his title of being the "Lead Man", where he led his platoon in many battles, driving a tank and running over an active grenade. He was injured and in turn received the Purple Heart.

He returned home with problems stemming from things he endured while in Vietnam, but was an overcomer in the end. Dennis professed and accepted Christ at an early age. He was kind, generous, easygoing, loving, and always a gentleman. He was a peaceful man of valor, and to know him was to love him. He had a sharp wit and sense of humor that kept you laughing. He loved music and dancing. He was an excellent "Chicago Stepper" who used his younger sisters to practice and finesse his form.

Dennis worked various jobs over the years, achieved sobriety, and became a published author.

He leaves to cherish his memory 2 daughters; Doretha Hall and Keona Scott; 2 sisters, Phyllis Gary and Shirley Aikens; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.
