Dorothy Ambrose

July 4, 1947 — July 13, 2024

Ms. Dorothy J. Ambrose Miller was born on July 4, 1947, in Tchula, Mississippi, through the union of Thelma and John Miller, who both preceded her in death. Dorothy confessed her life to Christ very early and later served as a Mother of the Divine Providence Baptist Church in Chicago, IL.

Ms. Dorothy completed her education in Tchula, MS, and began her journey in the medical profession in the late 60s. Dorothy was a woman filled with love and compassion, often working two jobs to support her family. This left Dorothy with little time for herself, but she never let it dampen her spirit. She was a little lady but was strong and mighty. She took pride in the outcome of her work, always striving to make a difference. She found herself in the medical industry for over forty years, retiring from the Glen Crest Rehabilitation Center in 2012.

On July 13, 2024, Dorothy was called home to be with the Lord. Dorothy was surrounded by loved ones and transitioned ever so peacefully in her sleep.

Dorothy leaves to cherish in her everlasting memories two beautiful daughters, Debra (James) and Jeanette (Reno). Four stepdaughters, Angel, Daphne, Denise, and Laquita. Three stepsons, James, Martice, and Maurice, all of Chicago, IL. Five sisters, Linda of Wisconsin, Lorraine (Robert) of Mississippi, Diane, Cynthia Elaine, and Rochell. Two brothers, Andrew and Michael, are all from Chicago, IL. Two aunts, Virgie and Christine, both of Mississippi. Also, to grieve in her memory are her two godsons, Andre and Thomas, from Chicago, IL.

She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Shikida, Jasmine, Edward, Kayla, Laneera (Jarreau), Ebony (Trevion), Ronald (Kia), and Laquisha, and one bonus grandchild, Candace (Bill). She also has sixteen great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Dorothy also shared life with her extraordinary friends, Willie Haymer of Mississippi, Mary Montgomery, and Mary Rucker of Chicago, IL., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
