Ed's education began in the bustling city of Chicago, where she attended Farragut Academy High School. After school, she embarked on a new chapter as a wife to Kenneth Purnell, together welcoming two wonderful children into their lives. Edith's nurturing nature led her to become a loving foster mother to three young boys, displaying an unwavering commitment to family.
Throughout her life, Edith demonstrated an exceptional work ethic. Her career commenced at the local post office, where she dedicated many years of service before finding her place at S&C Electric Company. There, she worked tirelessly for over three decades, earning the respect of her colleagues and creating cherished memories.
Edith was not only a dedicated worker but a lover of life. Her outgoing personality shone bright as she traveled and embraced adventure, including visits to the race track where she relished in the excitement of playing the horses. The thrill of the casino, particularly the slot machines, brought her joy, a testament to her lively spirit.
Music was another passion of Edith’s; she had a special love for the blues and danced to the rhythm of life, spreading happiness wherever she went. Her zest for life made her not just a participant in gatherings but the life of the party, leaving an unforgettable imprint on every celebration.
Edith leaves behind a loving family that will forever cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Thessalonia, her husband Sylvester Boler, her dear sister Betty Williams, and her brothers Ray and Bernie Davis.
