Gary Clemons

Gary Clemons was born September 4, 1955 in Marion Alabama, to the union of Jimmie and Solonia Clemons. Gary attended and graduated from East Perry High School located in Marion, Alabama. 

Upon graduation Gary decided to migrate here to the windy city of Chicago, Illinois, where he found employment at the Pride Container Plant for the duration of 40 plus years of his working life. During his life journey he met Anita Smith here in Chicago. The two of them were soon married. 

Gary enjoyed working with his hands, spending time playing cards, going to the horse racetrack, fancy cars, rehabbing buildings, and spending time with family. Gary was a great provider; He has always been a supportive and involved father to his children. 

Gary peacefully transitioned on Sunday February 1, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parent Jimmie and Solonia and his three brothers Earnest, Jimmie, Eddie and his two sisters Ivy June and Joyce. Living in his legacy his siblings Annie, Joe, Oscar, Leonard, Mattie, Clara, Gene, and Rhodena; his four children Avonti, Nakita, Shemika, and Micheal; his five grandchildren London, Ayden, Cylie, Ariya, and Aseem.
