Jeanette Rembert, affectionately known as Aunt Nette, was born on May 8, 1936, in Jackson, TN, to Horace and Colleen Burton. As the eldest of five sisters, she took on a nurturing role from an early age. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the pastorage of Rev. Robert A. Hayden.
A faithful member of Second Baptist Church, Jeanette served with devotion in the Young People’s Choir, Gospel Chorus, as a Young People Sponsor and on the Kitchen Committee. Jeanette was a graduate of Washington Elementary School and Proviso East High School.
She worked at Aldens, Naval Ordnance, and Hines VA Hospital before retiring from Dist 89 Board of Education. On September 3, 1960, she married Joseph Rembert; together they were blessed with two children, Joseph and Deborah. Known for her warm and gentle spirit, Jeanette had a heart of gold.
An exceptional cook, her home was always filled with the aroma of delicious meals, and it was impossible to leave without enjoying a bite or bringing home a carryout. Sunday dinners were a beloved tradition filled with laughter and cherished moments spent with family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was browsing Facebook from her sister's page, as she preferred not to have her own account.
Full of knowledge and wisdom, Jeanette was the family’s trusted source of knowledge and advice you could ask her anything and she’d give you an answer. She was the family “Siri.” Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Colleen Burton; husband, Joseph Rembert; children Joseph K. Rembert and Deborah M.
