Julius Jackson

Life’s reflections

Julius “Sunny” Jackson was born on July 13th, 1951, in Webb, Mississippi, to the union of Henry and Ella Jackson. He was the youngest of 14 children. He attended elementary school at Hess Upper Grade Center and graduated from Cregier Vocational High School in 1969.

He accepted Christ at an early age as his Lord and Savior in Chicago, Illinois, at St. Mary’s M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Walter Alexander. Later, he served as a member at New Mt. Pilgrim M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Marshall Hatch Sr. Julius possessed a profound love for his community and poured his energy into uplifting it, dedicating countless hours to local projects and various neighborhood causes.

On July 13th, 1974, Julius and Jacqueline were united in Holy Matrimony, and from this union, they were blessed with Julius David and Juliette. He was also the proud father of Devonte.

Throughout his life, Sunny was employed at Marshall Field's, Seagull Fabric Inc., and then put in over 25 years at Ford Motor Company. After a long and dedicated career, he retired in 2018. Upon retiring, Sunny turned his favorite pastimes into his “full-time job”. He had a deep love for going to the movies and going to the race track every single Saturday.

On Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, at 5:15 a.m., God called Sunny from labor to rest. Sunny was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Henry and Ella Jackson, his four sisters, nine brothers, and his son, Dejuan.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Jacqueline Jackson; his children, Julius David (Marnesia), Juliette, and Devonte. Five granddaughters, Carrington, A’mari, Kynnedi, Daijah, and Skylah. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the New Mt. Pilgrim M.B. Church family.
