Kenneth Riley

March 31, 1948 — June 15, 2022

God called one of his faithful servants, Kenneth H Riley, to come live with Him on June 15, 2022. The Son of Minnie and James Riley, Kenneth was born on March 31, 1948. Kenneth attended and graduated from Riis elementary school, Crane High School and Illinois Institute of Technology. Kenneth joined the Army in 1968 and fought in the Vietnam War.

Kenneth achieved many accolades and awards during his career in the telephone industry. Kenneth retired from Lucent Technologies in 2001.

Kenneth was very analytical, a born “tinkerer” and fix-it type person. If it could be fixed, “there was no need to buy a new one” that was his motto. After 20 years with the same vacuum, I had to put my foot down, I said “no more fixing the vacuum, I want a new one” I got a new one!

Kenneth and Joyce, have been together for 50 years. In this union 3 daughters were nurtured and raised; Yonyace, Kimberly and Brittany.

Kenneth has always been supportive of my dreams and goals. He was there every step of the way. Sometimes, I would have to say “its my dream”, but I loved the fact that he let me indulge. Kenneth was a mighty good man! I am so grateful to God for bringing him into my life. He will be a lasting legacy in my heart and mind.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Yonyace Kyles (Andy) Kimberly Riley (John) and Brittany Riley . Two grandchildren, Kailyn Drake and Caleb Riley. One brother Roney (Dale) A brother Ronald (Mae) who preceded him in death, two half brothers, Richard Butler Jr. and Robert Lee Butler. Two half sisters, Elizabeth Butler Lawrence and Shirley Ann Butler. Cousins, Stacey Barnes and Ronnie Barnes. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
