“When tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we are far apart, for every time you should think of me, please know that I am in your heart. The sun rose on November 9, 1969 when Kevin Kendall Morrison, better known as “Kevo”, came into the world. He was born to Edward Morrison (who preceded him in death) and Ruby Smart. While both of his parents were from Lexington, Mississippi, Kevo was born in Chicago, Illinois.
He later moved to Broadview, Illinois where he attended Roosevelt Elementary (Raiders!) and Proviso East High School (Pirates!). At a young age he developed a knack for sports and found his passion at Proviso East as a triathlete, specifically on the wrestling mat, baseball field and where he rocked a #32 jersey on the football field. He graduated class of ‘87 with a sports career that lead hi to attend Iowa State University.
Keven went on to marry his grade school crush, Rosalyn “Coco” Anderson and they quickly moved and settled down in Plano, Illinois where they raised three children while being married for over 18 years. Kevin held down multiple jobs but was best known for the soul food restaurant, Morrison’s located on the south side of Chicago.; He worked and operated that business for over 30 years under the guidance of a family owned business (also known as siblings until 2020). When the opportunity arose, you would see Kevo outside of the restaurant wearing the Morrison’s logo shirt or geared up in a Harley Davidson shirt or jacket, which he loved. Kevo was known to have a “Big Mouth” and an infectious smile and giving spirit. He was the one who loved a good time and great music.
Kevin’s sunset came on March 28, 2021. Kevin is leaving behind, his loving mother, Ruby Smart; beautiful wife, Rosalyn Anderson Morrison; five deeply loved children, Brittany, Evan, Kendall, Kiara, and Kimmare; four beautiful grandchildren, Ayden, Karter, Kaeloni Ray and Zenaya Morrison; seven siblings, Kimmare Smart, Renae Turnage, Deborah Courts, Antwon Chandler, Albert Redmon, Jason Love, and Sheila Morrison; nephew, Byran Smart; uncle, MacArther Morrison; aunt, Thelmas Homes; very special brother, Ray Smalls, Tabbie McCall, and Dexter Greenley, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many beloved Raider and Pirate friends.
