Malcolm Lloyd Nelson Sr. was born in Monroe, Louisiana on February 18, 1964 to Fannie Mae and Matthew Nelson Sr. He departed this life on Tuesday, March 22, at his residence in Maywood, Illinois. He was baptized at an early age and attended New Mount Pilgrim MB Church, Chicago, IL. He received his primary education in Cook County Public School System and graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL. After high school,
Malcolm attended college at The University of Minnesota where he played his favorite sport, “football”. After college, Malcolm worked for Airborne Express for thirteen years. He followed his passion for landscaping and created his own company Green Masters Landscaping. During this time, he began to study plant science and hardscaping. Two years ago, Malcolm’s love for his family brought him to Georgia to assist his brother, Herbert at Pro Cutters Landscape where he worked as a Project Manager.
His desire for professional growth landed him a role as Construction Project Manager at Plants Creative Landscape in May 2021. In November 2021, that same love brought Malcolm back to Chicago to assist in the care of his father. Loved ones who preceded him in death, maternal grandmother Ms. Easter Perkins, paternal grand-parents, Minnie and Robert Lavendar. He loved traveling, grilling (grill-master), gardening and home improvement projects. He was always willing to share his knowledge of landscaping to anyone seeking to beautify their outdoors. He had a love for fashion and was always sharply dressed. Malcolm never met a stranger; his smile and kind eyes were lovingly infectious.
