Marjorie Miller was born April 4,1936 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to the late Lee and Margaret (Taylor) Lindsey. Marjorie was the youngest of five children. She was preceded in death by both parents, her brother Lloyd Taylor, sisters Mattie Morris, Millie Stevenson, and Margaret Johnson.
Marjorie loved God and accepted Christ at an early age at St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Yazoo City. Mississippi where she served in the choir.
Marjorie graduated in 1953 from St. Francis Catholic High School where she went on to attend Jackson State University for two years. During her college tenure Marjorie reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, Allen Miller and true love was born. On August 15, 1959, Marjorie married Allen and relocated to Maywood, Illinois. To this union two sons, were born, Anthony Charles, who preceded her in death, and Edward Carey.
Later that year, Allen and Marjorie joined Canaan A.M.E. Church under the pastorate of the Late Rev. John W. James. Marjorie was selected to serve as the director for the Y.P.D. both locally at Cannan and for the West Area Conference. She served as the leader of the Missionary Society for both Canaan and the West Area Conference as well. As a member of Canaan, Marjorie volunteered in the nursery and was an active member of the choir. It was here that she first shared the gift of her angelic voice. She would later go on to use her musical talents while serving as the President of the Senior Choir later changed to the Chancellor Choir. Marjorie was a dedicated and committed member of Canaan A.M.E. Church for over 66 years and continued to serve in various areas as a loyal and righteous woman of God.
While Marjorie dedicated over a decade to her career as a secretary, her true passion and unwavering commitment were rooted in her role as a loving and devoted homemaker. She found her greatest joy in nurturing her family, especially her husband and two sons, creating a home filled with warmth, care, and unconditional love.
Marjorie loved to cook, bake, sing and spend time with her grandchildren and friends. She was especially known for her delicious lemon cake that was a staple at all the church functions.
Marjorie Miller departed this life on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. She leaves to cherish her memories, her son Edward C. Miller, 6 grandchildren, Marcus, Kailen, Leah, Nicholas, Amir, and Amya, 3 great grandchildren, Khloe, Marcus II, and Kairo, brother-in-law Cleophus Johnson, godchildren Trina Carter, Marlo Clemons, and Katrina Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all whom she loved dearly.
