Nancy L. Williams, affectionately known as “Mama Nancy” age 69 of Bolingbrook, IL passed away June 4, 2020. Nancy was the daughter of the late Thomas Glass and Emily Smith; Sister Nancy was born September 26, 1950 in Trezevant, Tn., the youngest of two children. She attended John Marshall High School and Loop Junior College where she received her Associates Degree.
At an early age she was baptized in Jesus name and received the Holy Ghost in accordance with Acts 2:38 at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church located 14 S. Ashland Avenue Chicago, Illinois. She was united in Holy Matrimony to brother Frank Williams on September 3, 1972 until his death, August 24,2013. To this union three children were born. Mama Nancy loved children. She raised three stepchildren and three foster children. Nancy Williams was an active member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church for 50 years.
She served on many boards and auxiliaries, such as Sunday School Department, Nursery Board, Pastor’s Aide, Girl Scout Leader, Vacation Bible School Lead, was an active choir member in her early years, and helped when there was a need. She later attended Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Morgan Park where she served on the Care Ministry Team and an active choir member. Sister Nancy Williams had a generous and giving spirit and was loved by many.
Nancy loved her children and they loved her. Her home was known to many down through the years as the “house young people loved…”Nancy loved to vend at many Church Conventions; she was known throughout different church communities: Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Church of God in Christ, and African Methodist Episcopal, as a vendor with the latest trends in fashion! She traveled many miles to serve the people of God. Sister Nancy had a business-mind; she owned Nancy’s Daycare, multiple tax offices, cleaning services, and of course her clothing business. She was an impeccable dresser some people called her “Fancy Nancy.”
