Robert Earl Wilson Jr. Affectionately known as Rob-Rob was born on May 30, 1986 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Robert Wilson Sr. of Rolling Fork Mississippi and Ruth Wilson of Chicago, Illinois. Rob had an inseparable bond with his three brothers, Raypheal, Rashaad, and Michael. From infancy, bible truths were impressed upon his heart! He was taught the importance of following bible principles to have good moral standards and excellent manners. Although, Rob was not a practicing Jehovah Witness, he appreciated having accurate knowledge of the bible. He loved attending the Commemoration of Jesus Christ Memorial each year, in addition to attending the local Kingdom Hall to hear his oldest brother Ray give Spiritual talks.
Robert received his education from Dvorak Technology Academy and Dunbar High School where he successfully obtained his high school diploma. After high school he worked as a Youth Counselor for the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center encouraging youth in the community to continue their education and pursue their lifetime goals. As a young adult, Rob expressed his feelings through songs and rap music. His lyrics told true stories about the effects of his environment and the struggles that many black males faced in an attempt to avoid the injustices of the Judicial system. Rob always kept it Real! While providing service with the Juvenile Detention Center, he applied for a scholarship to attend His and Her Barber School on the Westside of Chicago, where he had completed the mandatory required hours needed to obtain his Barber License.
He was always thinking of ways to utilize his profession as a local barber, being the creative person he was, he took his craft on the road becoming “The Cuts on Wheels w/a tip Barber”. Rob was a well-known and respected barber who shared his skilled with those who were unable to get traditional haircuts at an affordable price. He was so considerate that he accepted EBT as a source of payment. Rob was “Always trying to make a dollar outta fifty cents” which earned him the name “Big Money Rob”. Being the ambitious person that he was, he held a career position with Jewel Osco Food Store for over ten years. He also worked for Family Dollar as an Inventory Specialist until his untimely death. Although, he had multiple career paths, Rob still found time to love and enjoy his family and friends. Rob loved family time especially cook-outs and home cooked meals. If you were cooking a meal and wanted company just call Rob! Rob was a real cool, caring, funny and lovable person, his contagious smile merited one back. His unique, one of a kind smooth swag opened many doors of opportunities for him to achieve his aspirations. Rob’s hobbies were rapping, cruising in the neighborhood, cutting hair, making his money, living a stress-free life and getting his sleep on.
Rob marched to the beat of a different drum. Although, slender in built, his heart was enormous He loved life…. especially his daughters and longtime Special Friend Ana Martinez of twelve years. On October 1, 2019, Rob loss his battle with a rare form of aggressive Bone Cancer called Chondrosarcoma at 8:51 a.m. He was diagnosed only two months ago, and this deadly disease just took him by surprised. However, Rob fought to the end! He didn’t give up; his body just gave out due to imperfection. In his last days in the hospital, he met some wonderful medical professionals that cared for him with much love, respect, and with dignity. Rob used his final days - drawing close to Jehovah, acknowledging the promise of a paradise earth and realizing that life is short. In his last conversion he said, I hope I had a positive impact on others. I always wanted to make a difference in someone’ life. Well, Big Money Rob, we are here to say, that you did. Your generous nature and kind heart will always be remembered. Because to know Rob was to Love Rob.
