Sheila Marie Ector, better known as Sunshine, was considered to be funny, loved family, was a wonderful mother and an amazing grandmother. She was always smiling, was the life of the party, and knew how to bring people together to have a good time! Sunshine was fancy and loved the color purple.

Sheila was born to Gaynell and Theodore Ector on Wednesday, November 4, 1959. She attended A. O. Sexton Elementary School and graduated in 1974. She continued her high school education at Hyde Park High School from 1974 to 1978. She was a proud member of the Office of Occupation Club, the track team, the pep squad, and was the Vice President of Sophomore Class. Sheila went on to further her education at Olive Harvey College from 1978-1980 pursuing studies in Early Childhood Development. Continuing her love for early childhood education, Sheila completed her undergraduate studies in Science at Liberty University Online in 2015.

In June of 1994, she began her 29.5 year long career as a Crossing Guard for the City of Chicago until her health prevented her from working outdoors. She officially retired in August of 2024.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Gaynell and husband, Lawrence Walters.
