Sheree Scott was born June 27, 1958 to Henry Dean (who preceded her in death) and Zenobia Dean. Sheree was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, She was born in Greenwood, MS and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Sheree was the oldest of six children born to Henry and Zenobia. Her siblings affectionately called her "Sherrie."
Sheree attended Chicago Public Schools for both her elementary and high school education (Calumet High School C/O 1976). Sheree gave her life to Christ at a young age. Sheree was always very active in church (singing in the choir, acting in plays and attending bible studies) and attended with her siblings from a young age. During her late teenage years Sheree and her sister Teresa began attending New Calvary Missionary Baptist Church (which she attended and was a member for a little over two more decades). This is where she met a young musician named Marion "Scott."
On July 1, 1978 Sheree married Marion Scott. Together, they shared a beautiful journey filled with love, companionship, and support. This union produced two daughters, Kezia Scott and Patrice Scott, who were the pride and joy of her life. Sheree was a stay at home mom until her daughters were a little older and went on to pursue a BA in Early Childhood Education from Roosevelt University, a MA in Education from St. Xavier University and additional advanced certifications in education.
God and family meant everything to Sheree. Sheree enjoyed being able to worship God and share all of the wonderful things he had done in her life with others. Sheree enjoyed being able to play board games with her husband, specifically Scrabble and Boggles. Sheree also cherished spending time with her six siblings, extended family members, and a wide circle of friends. She was known for hosting and organizing memorable family gatherings, where she created a warm and inclusive atmosphere that brought everyone together.
Sheree's family brought immeasurable joy to her life. While she adored all of her roles in life, she truly loved her role as a grandmother. She enjoyed every moment spent with her grandchildren and creating special memories that will be cherished forever. Special mention she even added two bonus grandchildren, Kate and Carolina Del Rio into the family who affectionately called her Grandma Scott.
Sheree worked as a kindergarten teacher for Chicago Public Schools for over 2 decades (until she retired in 2017). In her 25-year career as an educator, Sheree made a lasting impact on the lives of many students, their parents and her colleagues. Her passion for teaching was evident, and she sincerely cared for her students' well-being and academic success. Sheree's infectious smile and warm personality endeared her to everyone she met, making her a beloved figure in her community.
Sheree made her transition from this earthly life to her eternal home on the morning of Friday, December 8, 2023, at the age of 65.
Sheree leaves to cherish her memories; her Mother Zenobia Dean. Her husband of 45 years Marion Scott. Her daughters; Kezia Scott and Patrice Scott. Her stepson; James Lewis. Her grandchildren; Zaria Hurdle, Kamea Graham, Kiana Gonzalez and Zania Hurdle. Her sisters; Teresa Sterling (Darryl Sterling Sr.) and Karlette Bradford. Her brothers; Glenn Bradford, Delrone Bradford and Tony Bradford. Her Mother in Love; Mary Scott. Her Sisters in Love; Vivian Arrington, Viola Koen, Velma Scott, Beverly Moore (Steve Moore) and Evelyn Wilder (John Wilder), Mary Scott. Her Brothers in Love; John Scott and Alvertis Scott Jr. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and her Lighthouse Church of All Nations Family (were she has attended since 2015 and been a member for the last few years).
Sheree will be remembered as a beacon of light, spreading love, positivity, and kindness throughout her lifetime. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
