Stella was born on February 23, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the blessed union of Lucious Sr. and Estella Fair.
Stella confessed Christ at an early age and maintained a close relationship with Him throughout her life. Anyone who knew Stella knew how much she loved the Lord. She had a deep spiritual connection. Stella also demonstrated great strength through Christ Jesus and overcame many of life’s challenges, emerging victoriously.
Stella later joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. Troy L. Kates, Sr. During her years of service at New Hope, Stella served on several Church committees and programs, including Church Anniversary, Culinary Ministry, Harvest Tea, Women’s Day chairperson, and, most notably, Christmas concert (Leaning on the Green). Stella was also the director of the Sanctuary and Combined Choirs for many years.
Stella graduated from DuSable High School and received her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education from Chicago State University. Stella was employed by the Chicago Public Schools as a dedicated Teacher, working several years at the Fort Dearborn Elementary School until her health declined.
Stella was united in holy matrimony to Willie Wynn on July 14, 1988. To this union, three siblings were united as a family.
Stella went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 14, 2025. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Lucious and Estella Fair, and her brother Emerson Fair.
Stella loved her family and friends and was known for bringing them together as often as possible. It truly made her happy to host a party, and boy, did she know how to throw one! If you’ve ever been to one of her events, she left no stone unturned. There was always a DJ, live band/entertainment, good food, a soul train line, and much more.
Stella had a joyous spirit and a flair for style. Her appearance was impeccable, from her hair and nails to her clothes and the stylish shoes on her feet. Stella enjoyed traveling and cooking.
Stella leaves to cherish her precious memories; her husband Willie Wynn, her son Jimmy Fair (Tishamon), two daughters Lakinya Wynn, Deana Lewis (Mpingo); one sister Dottie Fair (Joseph), three Brothers Lucious Fair Jr., Willie E. Fair (Brenda), and Gregory Fair (Ebony); Granddaughters Jimmyra and Ja’Miyah Fair and Grandsons Kevin Smith and Mpingo Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
