Mr. Willie Oliver Dillon was the youngest of eleven children (all of whom preceded him in death) born to the late John Ivory Dillion and Lillian Holmes in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi on January 5, 1935. In 1953 at the age of 18, Oliver took a chance and moved up north to Chicago for better job opportunities. He worked several odd jobs throughout the city until he landed his long-term career job at Kiddie Krome Children’s Furniture where he quickly excelled and was promoted to Supervisor.
He stayed there until he retired in 1993. He met Annie Mae Harris and from that relationship they had three children. He later met and married Spencenia Williams and from that union they had three children. Oliver was a quiet man that rarely complained. He was a good listener but would set you straight if you were wrong. Oliver prided himself on being a good provider for his family. He was a handy man around the house. He could fix anything “especially with a roll of duct tape”.
He was dedicated to his family making Friday night family night where everyone gathered to enjoy good times eating, dancing and listening to good music. On July 9, 2018, he quietly departed this life in peace. He leaves his children Annette, Van (who preceded him in death), James, Willie, Vanessa, Diane, Robert Earl (Lela), Hezekiah, Sam, Mike, Moses and Carlene all of Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
