Verna D. Young

Verna D. Young was born in Helen, Arkansas August 9, 1963 To the parent of Franklin R. Burchett Sr. and Iola Watson, both proceeded her in death.

Verna received Christ at a early age. She attended Williams T. Sherman Elementary school. Edward Tilden H.S. Where she met the father of her children Kenneth Grigsby Sr. They had two sons Kenneth jr. and Verse Grigsby. Verna later in life met the love of her life Michael Young and they married in 2007 and became a blended family of ten.

Verna was employed at Illinois Masonic Hospital, Chicago State University and her last job was Chicago Public School as a dining manager. She retired early due to her health. Verna was a sweet, caring and loving person.

Verna always had on the biggest smile and laughter. Everyone that knew her always saw her smiling and willing to have a conversation. She enjoyed cooking and the highlight of her day was listening to her ole school music. Verna was also known as (Fluffy or V). She loved spending time with her two wonderful sons. She loved her daily talks with her husband Michael., sitting in the backyard watching him cook on the grill or rather it be going to the mall, just spending quality time with each other

. Verna also shared a close relationship with both of her sons. Verna was close to all her siblings which shared a special relationship with each other

. Verna leaves to cherish her husband Michael Young. Two sons Kenneth Grigsby Jr. (Ishaya Harrison), Verse Grigsby (Denisha Lumpkin), Two Granddaughters Vania Grigsby and Calise Right. Extended family Rejina, Marcell, James, Barbara, Kim, Serena, Deonte. Six Brothers Charles, Alexander, Franklin Jr., Brent, Cornell and Demond. Five Sister Annette, Lawanda, Beverly, Tameka, and Sonita. A Dear friend Doris Wilson. A special thanks to Kim Hale for extended care. Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and Friends
